A Specialized Design-Build Project for Calloway County

This project kicked off in mid-January, requiring our crew to navigate the ice and snow that define our rural market’s winter months.

The goal was to take a complex double-shed-style roof concept inspired only by a few sketches and Pinterest images and turn it into a structurally sound reality without the benefit of our now-standard 3D modeling process.

Technical Resilience & Material Accountability

As an outdoor living specialist, we chose Rough Sawn Western Cedar for its natural beauty and durability. However, specialty lumber of this grade often requires a long lead time from suppliers in Canada. When a framing error occurred on-site, we didn’t make excuses. We reordered the premium materials to ensure the structural integrity was not compromised.

To keep the project moving during sub-zero temperatures, we pivoted the crew to a concurrent interior remodel, proving that we manage every phase of the build with “GC-style” oversight.

Solving the Architectural Puzzle

The client desired a unique architectural look that local “chuck-in-a-truck” builders aren’t equipped to handle. Without formal blueprints, we relied on technical expertise and honest communication to design a structure that would withstand heavy Kentucky snow loads while maintaining a sleek, modern profile.

A Lakeside-Inspired Sanctuary

By integrating Sunscape Polycarbonate panels, we constructed a space that remains dry during Western Kentucky downpours without losing natural light. We do fewer projects to maintain this level of precision.

The double shed-style vision was realized by standing “in the fire” with the homeowner, who refused to compromise when ice, snow, and material delays threatened the timeline. Almo build proves that when technical expertise meets honest communication, a few Pinterest sketches can become a generational landmark for a Kentucky household.

Stop Settling for “One-Call-Does-It-All” Builders

Most contractors in Western Kentucky are generalists who treat a deck like a side job. At Traylor Bros Deck and Patio Pros, we are specialists dedicated to the technical craft of outdoor living.
